UEFA Provisionally Suspends Gianluca Prestianni Over Alleged Discriminatory Behaviour

UEFA has released an official statement regarding the case involving .

Following the appointment of a UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector (EDI) to investigate allegations of discriminatory behaviour during the UEFA Champions League 2025/2026 Knock-out Play-off match between SL Benfica and Real Madrid CF on 17 February 2026, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has decided to provisionally suspend the player.

According to the statement, Prestianni has been suspended for the next (1) UEFA club competition match for which he would otherwise be eligible, due to a prima facie violation of Article 14 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR), which relates to discriminatory behaviour.

UEFA clarified that the provisional suspension does not prejudge the final outcome of the case. The investigation remains ongoing, and a final ruling will be made once the disciplinary bodies conclude their review and formally assess the findings.
